Fresh press conduct probe axed as ‘too long and costly’
PLANS for a second official probe into the practices and conduct of the press were scrapped by the Government yesterday. Culture Secretary Matt Hancock told MPs opening the second phase of the Leveson Inquiry, promised at the height of the newspaper hacking scandal, was “not the right way forward”.
